Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween from the Johnsons!!!!! Shelby does not have a costume this year but she has a cute t-shirt that Bonnie and Brandon Gommel bought her that says "Little Pumpkin". This was a good excuse for momma to put her in some blue jeans. Great-Grandma Doris made her a little trick or treat bag. No candy for Shelby this year, maybe next year.

Boo!

Do these blue jeans make my butt look big???

Who needs a paci when you have a fist?

A Johnson Weekend

This weekend Shelby got to see her grandparents and her Great-Aunt Tami, Uncle Lynn, Aunt Sherry, and Cousin Katie. Katie ran a half marathon in Houston on Sunday and we have not heard the outcome but we are sure she did great! Shelby talked and smiled for her grandparents and she really liked having them here. Grandma Johnson gave Shelby her bath and Shelby, as usual, really enjoyed it. We watched the aggie game on Saturday. That is all I will say about that! If you want to really know what we think see Travis and Sarah's blog. Sunday afternoon Ross washed his truck, so Shelby and I sat outside. She really liked it outside and was very smiley, especially when a breeze would come thru. Shelby now has another toy that she loves. She has been sitting in her bouncy seat and even went to sleep in it yesterday. Here are some pictures from this weekend.

Grandma Johnson playing with Shelby. As usual, mom did not get all the pictures she should have. We will have to get pictures of Grandpa holding Shelby at Christmas. Shelby liked to sleep on a pillow on Grandpa Johnson's lap. Grandpa and daddy have the touch to put her to sleep.

Mama's Girl

It is no secret that Shelby's mama likes to sleep and requires a lot to function. Shelby is slowly following in my footsteps. Last night she ate at 10, went to bed at 10:45 and slept until 4! When I got up and looked at the clock I could not believe what I saw. This means Shelby went 6 hours without eating. Anyone that has been around Shelby knows this is a small miracle, as she has been eating every hour and 45 minutes during the day. Shelby did go back to sleep at 5:30 and slept until 7:30, went back to bed at 8 and slept until 9. As far as sleeping goes most of you also know that I sleep walk and talk. Ross and I were really worried about this with Shelby because I tend to sleep walk a lot when I am tired. Well since Shelby has been here my sleep walking is all about her. For the first two weeks I kept thinking she was in bed with us. I would wake Ross up and say where is she? I told Ross one night to grab her before her head hit the fan??? Then another night I dove from my side of the king size bed over Ross to try and catch her before she fell off of the bed???? And the funniest so far was I got out of bed and started feeling around at the bottom of the bed for her. I told Ross I found her and he started wiggling his toes and said that is my feet. I do hold her every night in my sleep and I finally realize that it is the down comforter and not her. I'm weird, I know....but entertaining.

Shelby and Her Swing

Shelby has started to use her swing and actually enjoy it. She went to sleep in it yesterday. In other news, we have found some pacifiers similiar to her aggie paci and she likes them. It is nice not to have to track down the aggie pacifier everytime she needs one. Shelby is looking forward to Grandma and Grandpa Johnson's visit this weekend. She does not get enough attention!

6 Weeks Old

Shelby was 6 weeks on Friday and what a busy six weeks it has been. Shelby has really started to show her personality and it makes each day more fun. Shelby is very smiley and hardly ever fusses. You know when she fusses you are about to be burped or pooped on. She has gotten over her short case of colic and that is a blessing. Shelby's bed time, 9 times out of 10, is midnight. She is a night owl like her daddy. Shelby loves to take baths in her bath tub, play on her changing pad, eat, eat, eat, be kissed (she gives slobbery ones and then smiles), to dance, for you to sing to her, and she loves for her daddy to hold her (he has the touch). The only pacifier that Shelby will take is her A&M pacifier. We have tried many different kinds and shapes. We are brainwashing her early. Shelby hates most in this world covers. She kicks them off as soon as you put them on. We have to wrap her in her covers at night. You will hear her grunting on the baby monitor at night and most of the time she is working on getting her covers off. Sometimes you will go into her room and she will be out of her covers and at the end of the crib and the covers are still wrapped as if she is in them. I guess she is hot natured like her daddy. As for me, I realize that I took a lot for granted before Shelby arrived; things like going the bathroom, taking a shower, running to the grocery store, etc. Shelby has such an appetite that I have lost 31 lbs. Who needs a gym or a diet, just have a baby. Here are some more pictures!
Cheeks and chins.

Mom, stop with the pictures!

Shelby has such a long body that her long legs look short.

Pictures

Shelby loves to play on her changing pad first thing in the morning. She talks and smiles!

Great-Grandma and Grandpa Johnson came to see me last week before leaving for San Diego with Great-Aunt Sherry to see Aunt Kelsey and Uncle Charlie. We did not get a picture of Grandpa but we will when they get back. Grandma Johnson said I was a keeper.

More cheeks!!!!

Speaks for itself.

My first time to wear shorts!!!
We have had other visitors this week. Our friends Brandon and Bonnie Gommel came to see Shelby and brought mommy and daddy dinner on Friday. Mommy was so exhausted she forgot to get pictures. We will get pictures with them next time and post them. Also, Ross' cousin Kevin Hahn came to Shelby yesterday. We did not get a picture of Kevin with Shelby because he was exposed to poison ivy and did not want to hold her. Also, Saturday Shelby, mommy, grandma, and Aunt Kristen went to the rice harvest festival. Not much to report because Shelby slept in her stroller the whole time. Aunt Kristen pushed her and everybody thought she was Aunt Kristen's baby.

We are still alive!

We have not blogged for some time and you can imagine why. We've been a little busy. In the week and a half since we have blogged we have had a few new adventures. We tried giving Shelby a bottle and she loved it. If it involves food Shelby is all about it. So now mommy has a little more freedom. I weighed her on Friday and she weighed 11.5 lbs. I think 2 lbs. is cheeks!!We also put Shelby in her bath tub. Shelby has been taking baths on a huge baby sponge. Shelby loved her bath tub. Shelby has also started developing good sleeping patterns, which is the only reason I am able to blog complete sentences at 8:45 in the morning. She goes to sleep somewhere around midnight and gets up somewhere between 7 and 8. Of course, she does get up once during that time to eat and have her diaper changed. The key is how long she stays up during that period. Last night was probably her best night so far. She ate at 10:45, went to bed at 11:30, woke up at 3:30, went to sleep at 4:30, woke up at 7:30 (this is usually when she wakes up for good), went back to bed at 8 and is still sleeping. Shelby's baby acne is getting better and that makes her daddy happy. Her baby acne does not hurt her but it does hurt her daddy. Sounds like she is up. I will blog more later and add some pictures.

A funny story and a trip out of the house!

Well I will start with the funny story. The other night Shelby was laying on her changing pad on the floor. This has proven to be her favorite spot to lay and take naps. Mommy and daddy were actually eating dinner at the same time when Shelby screamed out like something had her. I went over to see what was wrong and she had a fist full of her own hair and was pulling. It was very hard to pry her hand open and save her from herself.

Here is a picture of Shelby laying on her changing pad on the floor. She has a severe case of baby acne. There is nothing we can do for the acne, it has to go away on its own. Luckily, it does not bother her.

Shelby is laying on Grandpa Leyendecker's lap waiting for grandma and mommy to give her a bath. She seems to enjoy taking baths.

I finally felt good enough to get out of the house with Shelby on my own. Shelby slept from 11:30 to 3:15 and then 6:45 to 9:45, so I got some sleep. Grandma helped us get out of the house and then we were on our own. We went a whole 4 blocks to Walgreens and then across the street for mommy to get her eyebrows waxed. Midway thru waxing Shelby started to fuss. Mommy had to take her out of her carrier and let her lay on my chest until the lady finished. Needless to say one of my eyebrows looks a little odd! After we finished, Shelby went to sleep in the truck in her carrier, so we went to Grandpa's office and did some work. Shelby slept the whole time and we came home.

Are those toes or fingers?

More Shelby!

We have not blogged in some time and I am now catching up with it. Shelby has not been sleeping at night and I finally found some time to post some pictures.
