Casa de Johnson

So the word has gotten out that Ross and I are in the process of purchasing a new home. We have put in offers on a couple of homes over the last year and come close a couple of times. Well, we finally got one. We have not had our inspections on the new home as of yet. So if they go terrible we may not go thru with the deal, but I am optimistic. Hey, I'm married to a builder so if something does not work he probably can have it fixed for cheap or fix it himself. Ross has picked up a lot of skills on the job site! He is quite a good tile layer, plumber, and has some electrical skills! I have been asked to share pictures of the new home. Keep in mind that Ross has a list of things that he wants to do to the house before we move in. We will be tiling in the bathrooms, the living room (the carpet is destroyed here), the kitchen, and dining. The whole house will be painted. The people before smoked in the house so between the paint and having the carpets cleaned we hope that it will get rid of the smell. If the funds allow we are planning on ripping out the entire kitchen and starting over. Pickled pink cabinets are just not our favorite :) ! They will be installed in the garage for storage. We have been busy working to get this house and now that the bank (it is a foreclosure) has accepted our offer we are working to get our house on the market. We have a busy weekend ahead of us! Here are some pictures of the house we are purchasing. These pictures are from the last time it sold, October 2006. The people that were foreclosed on did not even live there a year and a half.
These pictures are in a random order.

The house. It sits in an L-shaped cul de sac. 4 bedrooms 2 1/2 baths 2500 sq. ft.

The entry with a study to the left and the dining to the right.

The gameroom. Finally the toys will be scattered somewhere other than the middle of the living room.

The pool. For all of you that are freaking out right now that we have a pool with a baby rest assured that I have already checked into what we need to do to kid proof it and for water baby lessons for Shelby. How I would have loved to have this last summer when I was huge and pregnant. I would have been quite buoyant! The backyard is really big and you can not see the large green area to the right where Shelby's swing seat will go. And yes that is the football stadium in the background. It will give a whole new meaning to "Friday Night Lights". I would be concerned except until I was 14 I lived in the house closest to the West side of the stadium. It never bothered us.

The living room from upstairs. There are some big orange stains in the carpet here. My guess is koolaid.

Part of the master bath. I am excited to have two sinks and finally have a tub in the master bathroom...woohoo....

The dining room. Much smaller than we have now. I hope our table will fit.

The pink kitchen. I am not sure what happened but the stove is no longer there. Just an empty space. One of the things I am most excited about in the new house is having a PANTRY!!

The breakfast room. Ross already has a light fixture to replace this one.

The living room.

The master bedroom.

Wow! The house is beautiful inside and out! I am so thrilled for y'all! Hopefully, you'll be moved in by June so we can come check it out. Congratulations!

Congratulations! I know you are excited! Now is the time to BUY...good luck with selling! I had to laugh at the "pickled pink" cabinets. I think they are the same ones we have here. We have tried everything to make them tolerable...didn't work. We are having them refinished after my house is built. As with everything here, just getting that process started is taking forever! I would like to move in before Christmas!! Love the pool and yard! You will really enjoy it...basking in the sun, reading a book, sipping ice tea and, oh yes, chasing Shelby, I'm sure! I am so happy ya'll got the house and hope it all works out! Good luck!

When people are going to get their house foreclosed, they often "take everything but the kitchen sink." Because no one is there to stop them. I've seen houses where the doorknobs, light fixtures, faucets and even the hood vent was gone!
Congrats on the house! It looks like it will be a fun project!

Grandma Cheryl says,"I am so excited about your new home! I hope everything is fine and by the way, I like the PINK cabinets maybe we can trade. Well, probably not because Kristi and Kelsey have wanted me to change mine for a looooong time!"
