Jumperooing

Well it's official. Shelby is learning new things by the day. Last night she would sit in her jumperoo and play with the toys. Every once in a while she would pull her feet up and bounce. Tonight I came home to a clone of Tigger. Kim said she sat in her jumperoo bouncing and laughing for an hour straight today and as I am writing at 9:30 at night she is doing the same thing and has been since 9. I am tired just watching her. I do have to admit, it does look pretty fun though. She is getting more fun by the day. The only thing we need to work on is her going to bed a little earlier. It is wearing her mom and I out.

Shelby and Cousin Cooper

Here are some pictures that I had in my video camera and some video we took today. I know the peeps in my family cannot get enough of the blogs, especially the videos. Shelby has started reacting to our tickling which makes our interaction with her much more fun. She has also decided that she loves it when I snap as you will see in the video. The last video is one I got of Cooper at Christmas, Travis said that, at the time, he had never heard him giggle like this.

Shelby giving her patented TU sucks symbol. She came up with this all on her own; I was pretty impressed.

Shelby in her Jumperoo with Mom doing the tickling

Shelby loves it when I snap my fingers at her.

This is a great video of Cooper. We didn't get it on video, but Cade was the first one to get this reaction and then Travis took over.

My Daddy's Home

Shelby knows when someone comes thru the front door. She watches the doorway into the living room to see who is on their way down the hall. Whenever she sees her daddy she gets a big smile on her face. She loves her daddy!

I see my daddy!

I got a big slobbery kiss just for him!

The Gerber baby has nothing on me!

The Weekend!!

Well, I have been bad about blogging. I have not quite been myself since the weekend. Which basically means I'm EXHAUSTED!!!!! Shelby's grandparents came on Friday to stay with us before we left for the wedding on Saturday. When they first got here Shelby gave them "the lip". I need to get a picture of this, although, it will break your heart! She did warm up to them and they had fun playing together. Saturday morning they left for Spring to see Shelby's cousins Tyler and Cooper. Saturday Ross had to run to Walmart to get Shelby some tights as it was supposed to be freezing in Dallas for the wedding. I gave Shelby a bath and then started my bath water. The metal shower curtain rod and the shower curtain came crashing down on me and as it bonked me on the head all I could think is Ross is going to find me dead when he gets back. Death by shower curtain rod. Luckily, I'm hard headed and I just have a knot.

We got off to Dallas and the car ride went great. Well, we have a little confusion to make. Friday night Ross bought a portable DVD player that hooks onto the seat and some baby einstein DVDs. Shelby is too young to watch TV but for a 5 hour car ride we made an exception. I guess we are bad parents. She loved the baby sign language video and we did too! When we got into the hotel in Dallas we were immediately greeted by our friend J.C. (the groom) and his family. We opened the visor on Shelby's carrier and there was J.C. Shelby started to cry. J.C. said that was the usual response from women!
Ross forgot his belt so he made a quick trip to Walmart where he was hit on while checking out. I can't tell you exactly what she said but the g-rated version is that he is a cute white boy. Shelby and I thought the story was pretty funny!
We got to see most of Ross' buddies from his corps of cadets outfit and their wives. It was good to see them! Shelby did not want to be passed around at the reception so Ross and I were busy trying to entertain her. All and all it was a good weekend, tiring, but good. I'm supposed to be getting pictures from our friend Laurie. I will post them when I get them.

Shelby talking to her grandpa.

Grandma and Shelby.

The only picture I had time to take in Dallas. Ross was very excited that instead of the king bed we got a room with two doubles. Everyone had their own beds but Shelby still got to cuddle with her daddy before getting dressed for the wedding.

Happy Birthday Bailey!!!

Shelby's cousin Bailey is 3 today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

I stole this picture from Karyn Kale Photography! Since she is Ross' cousin I don't think I am in too much trouble. Check out her website because she maybe coming to Houston, she just doesn't know it yet! http://www.karynkaylephotography.com/

Nothing Much!

As the title says, nothing much is going on around here. I finally full fledged caught what Shelby and Ross had. We have not all been well at the same time since Christmas Day. It is very tiring to be sick and try and entertain Shelby. She gets bored very easily these days. My mother just tells me it is payback because I was the same way. Shelby still loves her jumperoo and she plays with all the toys on it. Grandma and Grandpa Johnson are coming tomorrow morning (Friday) to stay with us. Saturday morning we leave for Richardson for a wedding. That 5 hour car ride should be fun. One of our friends from college, J.C. Tiller, is getting married. J.C. is one of the few people that we both knew before we knew each other. Ross actually dropped his cell phone, with my number in it, in a glass of coke and fried it and J.C. then gave him my number. I guess we owe J.C. an extra special wedding present. Look for those pictures soon. Here are some that I took this morning.

I'm a wild woman in my jumperoo!

I love to spin the wheel and make the music and the lights turn on.

I still manage in a thumb break quite often.

4 Months

Today Shelby is 4 months old and as grandma Leyendecker told me it seems longer than that. I am starting to forget what life was like before her. As Ross posted in the last blog we were all feeling better and then the next morning Shelby woke up with a congestive cough and runny nose. We have been dealing with that ever since. I did read online that RSV and its symptoms can last for 15 days! Shelby had her 4 month check up today which worked out really nice so the doctor could also check out her congestion. Since she was due for 4 more shots I talked grandma into going with us, so I again did not have to witness her being stuck with needles! Shelby weighed 15 lbs. 12 ozs. 90th percentile and was 27 inches long, she once again did not register on the height chart. She is really growing like a little weed and is in 9-12 month old clothes. She has a couple of 6 month outfits that still barely fit. The doctor said she just has a little mucus in her nose so the rsv is pretty much over. He did say that 30-40% of babies that have RSV will develop asthma when they get older. Also, the doctor said at her 6 month visit she will be able to begin to eat cereal and then baby food. Sounds like fun to me! Shelby got her shots and was not happy but is sleeping now.

I'm Addicted to Football!!!

Happy New Years to all. We wish everyone the best in 2008.

Well, we are all finally getting over all of our colds and starting to feel better. Our banning of the TV around Shelby has kinda been thrown out the window for this weekend considering we had nothing else to do and I for one did not feel like getting off of the couch. On top of that, it is bowl week and I couldn't miss that. Shelby has also really enjoyed getting to watch some of her favorite thing on TV, football. Thanks to someone at our baby shower Shelby had her own theatre seating to watch some of her games this weekend. You'll see what I mean in the pictures.

I've got the best seat in the house, front and center.

Dad, could you get me another bottle, I'm too comfortable.
