Pictures!

Here are some fun pictures of Shelby.

Shelby likes to take walks, but lately she sneezes the whole time we are outside.

Shelby playing with a toy from Grandma and Grandpa Johnson. I hear the songs it plays in my sleep. And you may think the boppy pillow is to help her sit up. Nope.....

It is because she gets lazy and wants to lay down. She likes to play with her toys with her feet and this is what she was doing here. She really is a MONKEY!

I do have a little good news about her allergies. She has not thrown up the last two nights. She has still had the coughing and choking fits. I am not sure if the Benadryl is helping. I upped her dosage a little today to see if that helps.

When Animals Attack....

Most of you know that my sister Kristen loves animals! I call her Elle Mae because she reminds me of Elle Mae Clampett with all of her pets. Kristen finally had a run in with a bad animal. It was bound to happen eventually. One of her friends dogs attacked her when she was sitting on the floor and got her on the nose. One of her other friends pulled the dog off of her. The dog had her by the hair and luckily her friends were in the room with her. It could of been much worse because it was a large dog (90 lbs.). The dog is either going to be given away or put down as it has in the past attacked her friend's boyfriend. A friend of a friend is a plastic surgeon so Kristen went into his office and had him stitch up her nose. I asked her if she had anything else done while she was there. She says no.....

And it continues....

Shelby continues to throw up every night somewhere between 2-5am. The night before last she threw up at 9:30 in her bed. Every other time she is coughing and choking so one of us will go get her and she throws up on us. Since she did this in her bed and she was not coughing before hand it really freaked us out. So...I took her to the doctor yesterday morning. Everytime I would call the doctor's office they would tell me that there is nothing they can do at her age. The doctor did confirm she has allergies. He said that they are rare at her age. Unfortunately, in my family they are not. And he said that most likely she is allergic to tree pollen. He did say we can give her benadryl, but at her age it does not always work. We started the dosage yesterday and it basically put her in a drug induced coma and she still vomited this morning at 2:30. I am going to cut the dosage in half today so she is not so lethargic but give her a full dosage before bed. If the benadryl works the doctor said I will have to tweak the dosage to figure out the least amount that will take care of her symptoms and continue it for the rest of the Spring.

Ross took off yesterday afternoon and sent me to get one of my massages that he bought me for Christmas. The lady started working on my back and said I had a layer of muscle spasms and two layers of knots. She said my back was in terrible shape. In an hour she did not make it to any other part of my body. When I got home Ross went out and bought two hepa filtration systems, one for Shelby's room and one for the living room. One of the guys he works with said they really help his allergies. We changed out the air conditioner filters and called to price having our air ducts cleaned out. Turns out this is extremely reasonable and after they clean out the ducts they spray an antimicrobial solution throughout the whole system and on all the vents. And I am scrubbing down the house to get rid of all the dust. It might take me a couple of months :). Anyways, I hope the benadryl starts to help Shelby. It does not feel good to cough up your lungs every night.

Mmmmmm......

I love sweet potatoes and rice cereal!

Look what these fools make me eat!

All done!

I have not been feeding Shelby solids for three or four days since she has been having such terrible sinus issues and she never really caught on to how to eat. Tonight when we were eating she starting talking loudly in baby talk and eyeing her high chair. So we decided to try and feed her. She did very well tonight and opened her mouth and took bites. Of course a lot of it ended up everywhere else.

Daddy's Girl

Shelby loves to wear her daddy's caps. She gets a big kick out of it.

We have not been good about blogging. Shelby appears to have severe allergies like myself. She is fine once her sinuses clear for the day but for the last week she has been waking up in the middle of the night coughing and choking. We spend an hour or two in the middle of the night trying to get it all clear. The last three nights I have had flem thrown up on me. Yummy! It has been exhausting and I feel so terrible for Shelby. There is not anything we can give her since she is so little. We have rolled up towels under the head of her bed so she does not lay flat, the humidifier going, and we get in the steamed up bathroom in the middle of the night. I am praying it all clears soon but I battle it all Spring so she might be dealing with it for some time. If I don't get some good sleep soon they might be committing me!

Rambling...

Sorry that we have not put up the video of Shelby eating but it has been a little crazy around here. Friday morning I woke up sick. My body has never ached so bad in all of my life and I was very congested. Everytime I would pick Shelby up she felt 100 lbs. Grandma and Grandpa Leyendecker brought me lunch and entertained Shelby while I ate, which was much appreciated...but they had to get back to work as they had spent the morning at a funeral. Ross came home from work an hour early and I have never been so happy to see him. I handed off Shelby and collapsed to the couch! Sunday morning I felt much better. The last couple of days Shelby has been very congested. I guess I shared with her what I had. Her doctor's office said to be very aggressive with suctioning her nose. That is a battle and little Shelby is SO strong. I can't say I always win. I have been greasing up her chest with baby vicks and I have to admit when Ross wasn't looking I put some on my chest too! Hopefully Shelby will be feeling better soon. Once she is up for a little while and her sinuses clear she is all smiles and you would never know she has congestion. I have to say thanks to Ross because he spent his weekend taking care of both of us and did a fabulous job as always! Shelby and I are very lucky to have him.

Shelby now sits in her high chair to eat. Or should I say to spit out her food. Actually, she is doing better but she still has not figured out eating. She has learn a new trick from eating rice cereal. She sticks out her tongue and makes the spitting sound. She got this down spitting out the cereal. If you do it she laughs and then she does it. We will have to get video of it. It's pretty funny because the slobber goes everywhere.

Trying it out for the first time. I think she likes it!

Playing with the toy that Uncle Dale's family got her for Christmas. It attaches to the high chair and she loves to play with it.

Since I was feeling better on Sunday we went and looked at Ross' model home that he built. It is finished and they are in the process of decorating it and should be thru Thursday. I would have taken pictures to post except there was furniture, paintings, etc. everywhere. I will wait till it is decorated to post some pictures. It is a very beautiful 3450 sq. ft. home in Cinco Ranch. It took Ross between 6 and 7 weeks and he would have had it finished sooner except the flooring company ran out of the wood that was picked out for the floors and they had to wait on the manufacture to make more.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day to everyone!

It has been an eventful week here at the Johnson household. Shelby started rice cereal this weekend. Our doctor told us to wait until 6 months but we did not listen. Shelby started sticking her bottom lip out and crying when she would see someone eat. I felt like I was eating infront of a starving orphan and I could not handle it anymore. I would hide from her to eat. I felt like I had some sort of eating disorder! She has not quite got the whole eating thing down but she is working on it. We have video of her first feeding. I will have Ross download it tonight and put it up.

Well, that was Sunday and then Monday Shelby woke up with a fever. All I could think was please don't let it be RSV again. Nope, she's teething. The little tooth has broken thru the gums and it is working its way out. It is one of her top middle teeth. It has been very painful for Shelby. Shelby woke up crying this morning at 1am and was pretty upset. We gave her some tylenol, oragel and cold pacis to chew on. I stayed up with her until 2am. She wanted to be held. I eventually got her to sit on the floor with me and play. Once the tylenol kicked in she was ready to eat and go to bed. She is all smiles this morning and trying to break her jumperoo!!!!

Thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Johnson for the valentines. Shelby is so spoiled rotten! Her daddy went to babies r us and bought her a baby einstein video and a new toy. Then he went next door to Best Buy and finished off his Christmas money buying Shelby Disney movies for her to watch in the future. I bought Shelby Cinderella. Shelby has quite the DVD collection and she is not even allowed to watch TV.

Cousins

Shelby's cousins Tyler and Cooper came to visit on Saturday here are some pictures.

Tyler and his teddy.
These two look like they were caught doing something wrong. Shelby was doing that thing with her arms all day. It was so precious, Cooper tried to hold her hand.
Isn't he cute?!?

So Proud!

Shelby's Uncle Charlie leaves for Iraq tomorrow so we wanted to post and let him know how very proud we are of him. Charlie is a Second Lieutenant in the marines and is in an AAV (amphibious assault vehicle) company. I think I have that right? He will be back in May, just in time to enjoy the beautiful summer in Southern California. Charlie and Kelsey (Ross' sister) are stationed in San Diego. We hope Aunt Kelsey will come stay with us while he is gone. I really need a nanny that will work for room and board! Hahaha!! We will be anxiously awaiting Uncle Charlie's return with stories and his take on it all. I think Ross wants to hear about shooting all the big weapons and all that guy stuff. Uncle Charlie we will be praying for you!

Feel free to leave Uncle Charlie and Aunt Kelsey a comment. I am sure they would love to know who is out there thinking of them!

Charlie and the AAV. Note the AAV is bigger than it appears. Charlie is super tall!
